The Great WrestleMania Hype

"The Great White Hype" is movie about a heavily promoted fight where the champion is facing a white guy who defeated him in his amature days. The fight is heavily promoted, but the match only last mere moments. The challenger gets one good punch, then the champion knocks him out.

My poem and later a short story, "King Danny O'Beam," tells a similar story about a wrestler. Danny O'Beam wears a crown, rides a white horse, and is called The Shamrock of Ireland. When he gets a shot at the world title, The King is defeated in of matter of moments. WrestleMania 34 reminds me of the "Great White Hype" and "King Danny O'Beam."

First off Asuka has been undefeated for 2 years and then lost her match against Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship. They build Asuka up to be an athlete the level of Rock Marciano and then they have her being beat during her biggest moment. The WWE was also willing to risk her record at the Mixed Match Challenge. This showed me they treated her undefeated streak very lightly.

Also Braun Strowman was once again promoted heavily, then the WWE let the fans down. Braun's selection of a tag-team partner was promoted for weeks, the fans waited for hours on the day of WrestleMania. Then Braun chose a 10 year old fan to be his partner. The two went on the win the Raw Tag-Team Championship.

The WWE did not allow Asuka to win her first title bout, but they allowed a 10 year old to be a tag-team champion. This was a slap in the face to every wrestler in the business and a total insult to all the wrestling fans.

I am done with RAW and SmackDown. From now on I will only watch NXT, 205, and Impact Wrestling.
